Question? I love New York but all artists from every walk of life come out here to chill out and be known. Great. But now as I get older I'm looking for a new atmosphere - a new city where there are artists and hipsters to be around. What's a good a city or state to be in and to broading my horizions.

you want to live in spain or just about anywhere in socialist europe where the governments pay artists to go to school and dance under the gooseberry trees

I'm only half kidding ask around europe has more culture per square inch than saudi arabia has oil

I allow myself to take part from European, Spain is living a great political moment and civil, Italy a worrisome cultural imbarbarimento, England is maintained snob and distant with its "pound (sterlina)" but always on the credit side vanguard nel world dell' art, New york I find it always beautifulst and full of initiatives and you space cultural much creative!

one of my favorite political slogans is attributed to the IWW

WORKERS OF THE WORLD DISPERSE!

not sure but something in this discussion brought that memory back

the business of the world is to take over itself

do the good work where ever you stand

forget place

we live in the imaginary city

i've noticed that cities with large forgien born populations tend to have vibrant art communities...its usually the cities that are dubbed "international cities". People come from all over and get in the mix. I've been to philidelphia and miami. both places are big for individuals trying to get there work out in the broad, not really for money, but in the eyes of people that are more so open minded. People who have traveled have told me of the other places that have that same dynamic.

Spain is my favorite. The coastal area around Barcelona is best, but then the far southern coast is quite nice too for the climate and the rocky coast. Personally, I love Mallorca and plan to return there as soon as it becomes possible for me to travel & live in Spain again.

Spain? I always thought Paris was the place where all the artists go, do you think that place is over rated?

I visited Paris in 2005

the same month Cream had their historic Albert Hall reunion concert

my partner in crime spent on afternoon sketching at a cafe table while I wandered through the cemetaries and rode an elevator up the Eiffel tower

We met George Whitman, owner of Shakespeare & Company, the capital of Bohemia

art is everywhere

I remember reading an article about Moscow a few years ago

they have some kind of day put aside for artists

the sidewalks are crowded with musicians, painters, poets, and the general population soaking in the talent

art...music...poetry

still cherished in certain corners of our dying planet

i'm gonna throw minneapolis/st paul out there....2 very different vibes in two cities that have approachability, affordability and an open minded demographic....don't listen to the 'long winters and cold' argument- thanx to global warming the winters there are bearable but you do have to like the seasons
