Brooklyn Art Project

What have you seen, heard thought about or dreamed about lately that sticks in your mind? It can be anything, art comes from anywhere :)

For me it's been art from Singapore. I'm currently a long ways away from Brooklyn, traveling through South East Asia to grow BAP on this side of the world and I'm mesmerized by all the work coming out of this area, especially Singapore.

We've got some talented artists from the area as BAP members and the emerging art scene there is really taking off. Here are some pics and links

I'm inspired by Joseph Cornell lately and
I'm thinking of small portable shadow boxes.
I've been collecting altoid boxes and making this like my little obsession
that stick in my mind.

Last night I had a dream
I was in one of those small boxes
( the box was like a window though)
but was like a sea shore scene, insanely surreal
I was talking to a asian girl, she was wearing a bikini and we're talking about CD-room and stuff
Out of nowhere a gigantic wave engolf her.
But she was swimming like a mermaid and save herself.

Observing strangers on the nyc subway has been inspiring me lately. Especially when over hearing their conversations. People say the craziest things when they think no one is listening.

very true, NYC is a great city for that. little snippets of unfiltered reality.

Yeah, it like to do that in Berlin too - in the subway, in places where poor people can drink their beer for a cheap price. Sitting and listening what they talk about - about the worldwide crash, the banker crisis, their hope and fear. ...

I'm traveling over here in Manila right now and it's funny - so many people are talking about Obama

So what is the sentiment outside of the US regarding Obama? I'm curious as to how they perceive everything that is going on in US politics.

They hear most things through the filter of CNN and the BBC, web connected folks read all the same sources as in the US. Many of the locals here see the Obama "brand" as on par with where the US needs to go and most people I talk to say McCain = Bush.
