Steven Johnson: The Web and the city

Outside.in's Steven Johnson says the Web is like a city: built by many people, completely controlled by no one, intricately interconnected and yet functioning as many independent parts. While disaster strikes in one place, elsewhere, life goes on.

Steven Johnson is one of the most interesting, talented and thought provoking writers out these days and has been a personal favorite since reading his book "Emergence: The Connected Lives of Ants, Brains, Cities, and Software" in 2001.

And we're proud to call him one of our own - Steven resides in Brooklyn, NYC. :)
