Recurrence and Repetition: Angelí Vélez Solo Exh. filmed and edited by Miguel Conesa

Recurrence and Repetition by Angelí Vélez Produced Miguel Conesa

Recurrence and Repetition is an exhibition of happenings. The artist was showing all the artifices and displays created during all her recent happenings and live performances.
Recurrence and Repetition is the titled of this student and emerging artist individual exhibition. Angel Vélez, who recently graduated with a bachelors degree in Visual Arts from the Pontifical Catholic University of Ponce, has begun a new stage in her creative career by moving to the big apple to further her education and widen her horizons.
Angelí is a serious young artist so concern for cultural, social, religious and political problems we had experienced in Puerto Rico for several generations.
Her one womans show, (a requirement for her graduation) was held at the small gallery area (A small exhibition area known as Diego Alcalá Gallery) within one of the Fine Arts buildings at the Pontifical Catholic University of Ponce from the 12th through the 31rst of May of 2009. Since I was sick at the opening night, I went over to see the exhibition16 days later, (just four days before the closing of it). At my visit that day I videotaped the display of images shown in there, which are a reflection of issues that perhaps, do suggest ideas of changes, about elements in society we had so much taken for granted.
I am not trying to interpret the works on display. This video is my humble view and contribution of what I saw and a record of that exhibition, which is the start point of a number of new creative ideas yet to come in the career of this young artist.
