Insomnia is an annoying situation, when one rises several times during the night, to walk through the house trying to relax. All that can be done is to sit down on the sofa or armchair, to step at the balcony or porch or simply watch through the window while the mind reflects and tries to find some sense to all this.
I have mixed different musical genders totally opposed to each other to help create different moods, sensations and emotions. An image, thoughts, ideas, memories does pass fleetingly through the mind while one tries to settle some sleep. All those disturbing elements that nothing helps to fully relax the body are there and do seem to come from unknown sources. It is as if some sort of a strange entity was out there trying to keep you from not getting any sleep.
This production took me more than one week to edited, since I remade the effects of overlapping on one image on top of others. It allowed me to change color, style texture, lights and different contract to set the appropriate mood for the story.
When I do a video it is as if I was painting on a canvas. My videos like my paintings is an intellectual and technical effort of overlapping images on top of images, followed by light effects, colors, shades, strong contracts and textures.
My videos are an extension of my creative process, no different from the rendering of a painting, a drawing, an assemblage, a construction, an installation, a performance, a poem, a written statement or a sculpture are part of a same visual language concept. For me all the mediums can be interrelated and is what I have been doing with very little resource and budget.
Music: kingdom of Heaven soundtrack,Mima Damien, Flight of the Bumble Bee, Live and let die, Dark Atmospheric-Godspeed-Black Emperor, Di Quella Pira sung by Pavarotti and The Ring are some of the music meadly included on this video performance.
