And the sun meets grey days. Coney Island Portraits at LaunchPad Brooklyn

June 29, 2011 at 7pm to July 22, 2011 at 11pm
Coney Island portraits is one of Tanja Beate Heuser’s current ongoing projects. She felt in love with this place in 1990, at the age of 16, when she traveled to America her first time. Now, 20 years later, the area has undergone huge changes. Parts of Coney Island such as Astroland will exist no longer in its current form.  This exhibition is a homage to Coney lsland and its lovely people.See More

No, it is not, what I understand from Kalamkari, done with a pen. My work is done with a zero number paint brush, still cut in half. I got the inspiration for this canvas from my pen drawings, in chinese ink on paper, that I made earlier. I always wanted to enlarge my pen drawings on a bigger scale but did not know how to go about it, till I discovered, after a long time, stupid enough, that I could simply sit on the canvas and paint almost in the same way as drawing with a pen.
