Understand Power, Process & Readiness

If You Want To Succeed

THE MAIN THING IS TO KEEP THE MAIN THING THE MAIN THING.” BUT COVER ALL BASES WHEN THE STAKES ARE HIGH.

I immediately knew we were in for an interesting day when I opened my door and there

he stood, T-shirt drenched in sweat that I could smell.  Why folks who need deodorant

the most use them the least will always be one of the “natural wonders” of the world, I

quietly quipped. I still wanted to talk about process. But as I served him ice blocks and

and water—it's either that, or chain smoking for him when we get together and are brainstorming—and I asked what happened to our original plan, his response was

direct: TT,  right now, I don't want talk about nothing. I am ready for presenta-

tion. We go. I give it. That's all.” With his heavy Russian accent, the tension in

the kitchen between two good friends & business partners appeared settled. I

was still, as the CSO of our little big bet project, very concerned for the same

reasons Eric Liu  cites above;  for the same reason 2-time US presidential

candidate Mitt Romney and former New York Mayor,  Rudy Giuliani

both notoriously run embarrassingly flawed campaigns based not on

metrics, demographics and facts.  But instead, on assumptions,

hubris, an inflated sense of entitlement, very poor planning,

coordination/integration, operations/execution & culture.

To name key factors people/organizations that understand

how power & the world works, proceed when pitching

an idea, seriously trying to sell anything, or seeking

VC. This is what my tag “Disconnected thinking

is mediocrereferences. And Don't Talk About

Process. Let Your Results Do The Talking

requires Associative Skills+familiarity with

my writings including this publication. A

source code or prepared presentation is

just the minimum; Networking with

the right/competent people before

-hand, getting them excited, and

fully involving your team so as

to mitigate or avoid risks, is

critical.  The Chinese  re-

ceptionist immediately

opened the entrance

door of the suite,

upon smelling

downhill it
