Art is your second career. How you decided to make this transition and when?

FR: After 17 years of banking my last job with Bank of America was Senior Group Operations Manager for the banks bankruptcy accounts nationwide, I was ready to make a drastic change so I quit in 1991 to pursue a career in art. One thing I took away from banking was the ability to understand the marketing and managing of my artwork.

What’s it like to be an art star?

GC: Ha! I wish! You mean the show Art Star. I auditioned on a total whim. I remember standing in line with my five paintings. Jeffrey Deitch hosted the show and the interview took place in his gallery during the Keith Haring exhibit. Talk about surreal!

Where were you born?

AR: I was born in Modesto, California, in the late 70s - born into the leftovers of bell bottom pants, Folk music, and the decline of the VW beetle - my mother's first and only car, which she bought when she was 16 and still drives to this day. Where were you born and where do you currently reside?

JL: I was born in Brazil, in a small and backwards rural town, but it was there that I was lucky to absorb a love of nature because of my upbringing and spending a lot of time with my maternal grandparents' farm.
