A Lifetime Artist/Oil-Painters Lament.................

30,000 years ago cave art transformed and separated Homo-sapient Earth Residents, from all the other species that inhabit this Planet. It led to language captured in a time-binding manner, to be used as a means of explaining knowledge, methods, recipes, formulas, plans, and descriptions that would keep for Centuries.

Art is your second career. How you decided to make this transition and when?

FR: After 17 years of banking my last job with Bank of America was Senior Group Operations Manager for the banks bankruptcy accounts nationwide, I was ready to make a drastic change so I quit in 1991 to pursue a career in art. One thing I took away from banking was the ability to understand the marketing and managing of my artwork.

Why did I quit a good paying job? My partner Daniel was very encouraging… Continue

My upcoming book.

I do have an obsession aside from photography.  It’s the history if the New York City subway system, particularly the plans for lines that were never built.

For a long time, I’ve felt that the stories of the unbuilt lines are more interesting than some of the lines that were built. The Fordham University Press has given me the opportunity to write about it, and you’ll have the opportunity to read about it this fall.  Please see the link for more information.

It’s not a…

What’s it like to be an art star?

GC: Ha! I wish! You mean the show Art Star. I auditioned on a total whim. I remember standing in line with my five paintings. Jeffrey Deitch hosted the show and the interview took place in his gallery during the Keith Haring exhibit. Talk about surreal!

I didn’t understand the art world at this point. I had no clue what I was getting into, who these people were or the impact it would have on my life but out of 400 people I was selected. I was… Continue

My father's day

Sunday will come and go and I will miss father's day as am off to London. So here is my tribute to my dad, don't worry he is still alive and kicking at 80 years old.

My daddy used to carry me over seaweed at beach holidays as I was utterly petrified of the seething bubbly alien mass covered in blue bottles. It was basically moving and buzzing embedded in the sand and the thought of…
