recognition of risky thinking and you're invited to the show...

i recently submitted some abstract works to an open call for artists here in los angeles. i'm kind of picky about who and what i submit art to -but this show was different.

it was being judged by someone quite special. howard fox. the curator of contemporary art at LACMA.

the creation of new original art is hard because so many artists have already experimented with so much already. all sorts of examples are on display in museums all over the world.

the only way to do something… Continue

first pics of the long painting public work.

to all my new homies out there,

i've met so many new great inovative artists lately on this site. so many disciplines, so varied and oh so fresh. lot of great thinkers out there.

in the spirit of sharing, i'd like to announce the addition of the photos from my public work "Labor Day 2003".

unfortunately, i loaded them frontwards so they appear last image first. what can i say, i'm brilliant not smart.

in any event, the piece is 55 inches high and 165 feet long. it has 36… Continue

tips...

some one recently asked if i had tips. i don't think i'm qualified to teach but i thought about it and there are some things i learned that might help. some i learned from others but, most of it i found out on my own.

one for sure is discipline.

all the great painters had it. they worked or thought about work on a regular schedule. i don't always produce something everyday, but i spend time in the studio. i allow myself to be flexible and do other things about furthering my painting… Continue

me up to date...

i'm old. i've done lots of things, been lots of places, seen lots of shit.

i've lived the artists life -paycheck to paycheck for over thirty years. i wouldn't have it any other way. i still can't make the rent with painting but that's not the only artist i am.

i do voice over work, mostly from home. check me at:

thats taken years to get to the point where i can pay the rent from it. and i still can't sometimes... insert your personal… Continue

Thank you David and you are very right that war project is way to big for me. I am beyond busy with family, school, work, and so on to start and finish. I hope someone does it though.
I always wanted to do voice overs. I'm jealous. Is it fun?

Hey David! thanks for the comment on my wall and the kind words. We've got some good things coming down the pipe. It's our own version of cool art. Except it's software and, well, requires other people to make it amazing!
