The purpose of my series is to make genetic engineering more accessible to the public eye. In order to achieve this, I've used a medium that one can see as well as wear in order to engage the audience in the effects of these new technologies. to make each piece express an opinion; positive or negative. The debate of the subject of genetically modified foods lies in the morality of deconstructing the most basic building blocks of life and recreating them into a new and “improved” product. To engineer life is a great responsibility, and many good things may result from our genetic interventions, however the opposite may also be true.
The design of my pieces comes from the structured manner of science, while the obvious organic forms are inspired by nature itself. My primary goal is to involve the body in a dialog with my art.
