Very often
What do you want people to know most about you?
Rachael Warner was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest and came to Brooklyn in 1996 where she attended Pratt Institute, obtaining a BFA in 2001. She continues to live and work in Brooklyn.

I make paintings that celebrate boldness and personal strength in the face of cultural constraints. These portraits illustrate through concept and craft the dynamism of identity-driven, social and visual contradiction. By fusing these elements into complex notions of identity, I wish to represent the diversity, beauty and an unapologetic sense of self in the subject.

I attempt to make paintings that are sincere without taking themselves too seriously, and that are both nostalgic and unconventional.

"Boldness and pretension need not be mutually exclusive, just reference your dearest soft-rock favorite." - Rachael Warner

Hello Rachel

Haven't seen you around BAG, still a member?

As a Brooklyn artist, I write you today to share Brooklyn’s greatest public artwork.

Why it is unknown is a mystery.  Nobody knows it exists.

The Tower of the Empire State Building bisects the Arch in Brooklyn’s Grand Army Plaza.

Landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted and architect Calvert Vaux created the framework for this continuing work-in-progress as the Civil War ended, 25 years before the Arch, 65 years before the Tower, 105 years before the Mirador, and 145 years before I stumbled across it.

In starting the “Grand Army Plaza” group here at Brooklyn Arts Project, I hope to share ideas on how to raise public awareness to protect and promote this View as an “historic visual corridor.”  Building Six of Atlantic Yards threatens to eclipse the view.

Please forward the links to friends, artists, architects, bloggers, politicos, media and civilians.

Your friend, Richard
