Thanks for adding me as friend. Are you from the New York area? I am trying to put together a few art shows since it is going to be getting cooler. My website is www.artinharlem.com. Do you have a site?
How often are you the first among your friends to try something new?
Very often
What do you want people to know most about you?
Hello,
My name is Noel Donaldson. I am a Harlem New York based artist who lives and was raised in the Bronx New York. I paint with a mixture of contemporary African, Pop, Graffiti and Southern Folk art styles.
I have always had a need to be expressive, but I had never found a vehicle in which I could have my voice, be heard. Without ever going to art school and without ever taking an art class, I decided that I wanted to paint some original art pieces for my home. From the moment I dipped the brush into the acrylic and placed it on the canvas, I knew I would be painter for the rest of my life.
There is a solace that I find in painting that I have never felt before. Painting for me is true proof of my own existence. I simply paint what I feel and I leave the judgment of artistic talent, merit or relevance up to each individual.
My paintings are bold and original. I try and capture the duality of existence that most African Americans face on a daily basis. On one side there is the community aware and spiritual being and on the other side there is the chaotic and abstract forms of expression. By embracing both these parts of my being, and allowing my heart to guide me, my work has an eclectic and unpredictable mix of
colors, characters and situations.
I simply LOVE to paint.
The Alpha and Omega of my art influence is Jean Michelle Basquait. I also like Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, African masks, Greek statues and New York City.
