What do you want people to know most about you?: 4heads is a New York-based arts group that specializes in commandeering and beautifying unused spaces - developing unique environments for the purpose of exhibition, installation and performance so that artists from all over the world can make good use of dismissed areas. Ernie Sandidge, Nicole Laemmle, Jack Robinson and Antony Zito make up the founding core of the group which was formed in early 2008 with a mission of forging new opportunities for the growing community of artists in New York and beyond.

4heads’ goal is to continually create diverse venues and forums to present, advocate and provide services for artists everywhere. The desire to structure valuable opportunities for creative individuals comes in part as an empathetic reflection of their own struggle as working artists surviving in NYC. 4heads are primarily focused on encouraging organically occurring culture by nurturing the evolving community of artists - who they see as the true voice of contemporary culture.

The Governors Island Art Fair 11 AM to 6 PM
Run by artists, for artists, The Governors Island Art Fair enters its 4th year this fall as 4heads rally an exciting and diverse selection of artists from around the world. Well over 100 independent artists are selected entirely on the merit of their work and, once chosen, each is given a room of their own in which to create an exhibition environment centered around their individual vision. A selection of galleries are exhibiting in the Fair as well and, this summer for the first time, 4heads are also offering art workshops and artists' studio residencies beginning in June.

Directions to the Governors Island Manhattan Ferry
The Governors Island ferry departs from the Battery Maritime Building located at 10 South Street, adjacent to the Staten Island Ferry in Lower Manhattan. The ferry terminal is accessible as follows:
By Subway
1 to South Ferry station
4, 5 to Bowling Green station
R to Whitehall St. station
By Bus
M1 (weekdays only), M6, M9, and M15
By Car
There is no public parking at the Governors Island ferry building. There is garage parking across the street from the Battery Maritime Building for a fee.

Directions to the Governors Island Brooklyn Ferry
The free ferry from Brooklyn leaves from Pier 6 in Brooklyn Bridge Park, located at the foot of Atlantic Avenue (corner of Columbia Street).
By Subway
2,3,4,5 to Borough Hall
A,C,F to Jay St./Borough Hall
R to Court Street
By Bus
B63 to the terminus of Atlantic Avenue (at Columbia Street)

Manhattan Ferry
Free ferries run from Manhattan Friday-Sunday and all Holiday Mondays.
Fridays: Ferries leave every hour between 10 AM and 3 PM. The last ferry returns from Governors Island to Manhattan at 5 PM.
Sat-Sun & Holiday Mondays: Ferries leave at 10 AM, 11 AM and then every half hour until 5:30 PM. Ferries return to Manhattan at 10:30 AM, 11:30 AM and then every half hour until 7 PM.

Brooklyn Ferry
Free ferries run from Brooklyn Saturday-Sunday and all Holiday Mondays. There is no free ferry service from Brooklyn on Fridays.
Ferries run continuously, approximately every 10 minutes, beginning at 11 AM. Ferries run from 11 AM to 5:10 PM. The last ferry returns to Brooklyn at 7 PM.

Our Location on Governors Island
Upon exiting the ferry, walk to the LEFT following the water (on your left) all the way around to the Red Hook, Brooklyn side of Governors Island. The Art Fair is in Building 12 (on your right). Follow the signs to Sections D,E, H, I & P of this large, former military residence complex which has been repurposed as galleries by 4heads.
