Painter, Photographer, Art Enthusiast, Collector, Sculptor, Curator
How often are you the first among your friends to try something new?
All the time
What do you want people to know most about you?
Anagnorisis is the curatorial brainchild of artists Samantha Levin and Danielle Ezzo, created for the purposes of curating art shows and representing artists in the United States and abroad. Much of the artists with whom we work show a penchant for creating very lush work, either uplifting or uncomfortable, subversive or sublime.
We do not have a set gallery space, but instead guest-curate with other galleries, utilize alternative exhibition venues and use temporary under-utilized real estate. Artists and galleries collaborate with us to gain more exposure for their work and the arts in general. We have curated exhibitions for venues such as The Classic Car Club, Shadow's Space, Pixel Space, and The White Rabbit, amongst others.
Our name, Anagnorisis, refers to the moment when the hero of a Greek tragedy discovers the truth of his or her situation. Overall, Anagnorisis means, "from ignorance to knowledge". We feel that this term aptly describes the reaction one might have when viewing a splendid work of art - a visual anagnorisis, if you will - and applied the term to our artistic and curatorial partnership.
