And The Sun Meets Grey Days, 2006-2011

Coney Island is one of my current ongoing projects. I felt in love with this place many years ago as I traveled to America with my parents in summer 1990 in the age of 16. Now 20 years ago there is a huge change in the area, many things happened there, they a re unstoppable now. Gentrification is not stoppable here, its destroying history all over the world.

The attractions of Coney Island like Astroland, Shoot The Freak, Cyclone Rollercoster, Dreamland, Nathans, Wonder Wheel Park, many Arcade games and the Mermaid Parade in June have seen better times before. Astroland will exist no longer in its current form, it was sold in parts and cames back in partly new styles the since the last years. The second rollercoster was destroyd some years ago, there is now an empty space between the beach promenade and Playland, a green area & a no man’s land.

These pictures are a part of my ongoing Coney Island project.
