Old School, New School

I really just like to know what everyone thinks, so feel free to add your two cents or more if you have it...

How do you feel about digital photography vs. Old School Film Cameras?

I use a 35mm(Canon), but I also have a 52mm D50(Nikon) and truth be told though process of digital is much easier, I can't help but love developing, and the anticipation of seeing how something turns out.

I think there is room for both ! It comes down to the skill and artistry of the person using their tools.
Some people are really in love with film processing and being hands on with the magic in the dark room, Others love the process and and potential of digital mastery.

Regardless it takes good product in to get good product out. It starts with the eye of the photographer, the understanding of light and composition, utilizing their chosen camera and lenses to the best of their knowledge and then going from there.

Personally, I loved darkroom processing, but i dont have access, but now im in the new learning curve of taking the time to learn about my digital camera, and processing my images digitally. I still want full control of my product to the printing stage so i have my own printer. Its more to learn and the output options are vast.

So do I think digital is easier? I dont know, thats up to the artist how easy or complicated they want to make it! lol! :)

i love film always have always will

but i do have a panasonic lumix which is wonderful for capturing those 2 second moments :)

Agree on that note... I just always felt that taking a photo with my 35mm, and coming across that one that you just can't look away from, WITHOUT taking it in to some program and doctoring it up makes for some of the best photographers!!

I have to say the biggest misconception about digital is the "doctoring it up" I know many photographers who are extremely skilled photographers with their cameras and because they understand that aspect of photography that comes over from working with film there is no "doctoring' of their images after the capturing of the digital image, that is the artform, that is the skill, and as I said before, even if someone is going to take an image into an editing program you have to have good product going in in order to get product coming out, you cant take a bad product and make it good by doctoring it up. I believe you still have to have some skill and artistry going in in the first place.
