Tell us what you think makes a strong online art competition. What kinds of competitions would you like to here on BAP? What kinds don't you want to see?
1) I really liked to be part of the competition, it was a positive experience for me, but I thought the voting was not a simple process. I have sent the link of my artwork to some friends that just could not vote, they did not understand how to do it, and to be honest it took me a while to understand as well...Some people just don't like to become a member just to vote...I mean, they don't want to give their information and also, what benefit the BAP has on having "fake members"?
2) I would like to have a competition with a jury composed by 3 curators and the winners would get to exhibit their work in a local gallery (in Manhattan or Brooklyn). The first prize would get also a studio space for a limited time. This would be a opportunity for the emerging artists!
A morning thought: I saw this coming. If I had called on my family and friends to vote for me, it would have created a bitter-sweet result. This should have stayed within the community--the best choice from your fellow artists would have been an honor. Yet, because of this experience I took the time to discover this diverse and inspiring artist community.
