Brooklyn Art Project

The BAG Gallery is seeking submissions for our upcoming show, “Gentrified,” on view from December 18, 2010 until January 8, 2011.

Like all urban areas, the word ‘gentrification’ can spark a heated debate anywhere in Brooklyn. Our neighborhoods have undergone huge transformations in the recent past,
polarizing their inhabitants in the process. Have we gained vibrancy, or
lost it? Revitalized or destroyed? New York sheds its skin like a
living thing, layering new on top of old, leaving a trail of nostalgia
and dissention in its wake. We invite artists to explore the constant
upheaval, the friction, the gains and losses, the concrete and abstract
ramifications of a city in progress.
