Brooklyn Art Project

inquiring about having a commissioned piece done - looking for something surreal or abstract. Not interested in traditional portrait. How does one go about finding these types of artists?

ADDENDUM: related to this request, this is for a live event (my wedding) on Friday, September 19, 2008 as a surprise for my fiance. The event runs from 7/7:30 to midnight on Long Island (Nassau County). I'll also provide dinner as I would for any vendor, if you will. While doing my due diligence I've been drawn to abstract and surreal artists but welcome all genres. The piece will be displayed in my apartment (Brooklyn). An ideal size would be around 36"x26". While I do have a budget, I'm sure each artist's cost will vary.

If you are interested, please upload samples to the forum discussion that are representative of your work.

hELLO,

wHAT exActly R U looking for??? Maybe I can help u out?!
I am looking for a piece that is surreal or abstract in nature. Do you have a portfolio that I can view?
While I find your work intriguing, for what I am thinking (and since it's during my wedding), your pieces seem a bit dark. Thoughts?
try contacting the artist you like on this site if you are interested in proposing a commissioned work
Hi BTM, I think it's a great idea for you to commission some work from BAP artists. If you can provide a general description of what you're looking for here, I'll announce it to the community and publish a blog post about it. Feel free to contact directly too at anthony at brooklynartproject.com

Best,
Anthony
Maybe you like red impressed ones? Have a look: www.barbara-rapp.com
If you like the style, just let us start to discuss.

Chad,

Thanks for responding to my post. Are you on the east coast (i.e. New York)? I'm seeking an artist for a live event (my wedding) in the NY metropolitan area.
Hello. I tried uploading on here samples for you but for whatever reason it never "took" . My styles are many but not traditional. I work abstractly and whimsy/edgey, not dark. Please refer to my FINE ART AMERICA page for a good review of my work. when i went to upload here it just spun forever and my files were small. Michelle spiziri
Chad, can you direct me to a statement or blurb speaking to your influences? Feel free to also contact me at mcnamara.briant[@]gmail.com

I live in emeryville ca but frequently travel to that area as I have family that lives in Mamaroneck in Westchester county. An event and a painting would make great excuses to travel out there.

Hello BTM. You may like some of my work as well, Please check out my pics and let me know..I reside in Brooklyn. Are the artists required to be present during the event...that may be difficult for me...but would love to talk to you about it.
