anyone know of a good, inexpensive place to get high quality slides made from digital files?

Contact your local art supplier for recommendations in your area. Some of the bigger art supply houses do a side business in photo reproduction. I used Charettes for exhibition quality digital prints several years ago.
Some Art MBA(s) pursue this revenue stream using a small business approach with that "personal touch".
Everything is marketing when it comes to service based businesses.
