The salty air and the waves I say. On the deck these things make me stay. For fish and sand and dock and shore. The great octopus in days of yore! For my dog, myself, pin cushion and mollusk. On barnacle rocks we dance and frolic so swigging rum our puke's like Pollock! -Captain Jim

the embers of his eyes fan out into the air, dust flames; captain Jim, someday they'll make a movie about you and you'll be given over to the eternal slabs of marble on a green hill, and your name, and all the ones not cut remembered only in your heart will not fade away.

Your ancestors salute you.
and the gods of your ancestors salute you.
They draw you through that golden door.

We remember you.

We conceived of you
We conceived of the whole human race
sometimes it comes back in the form of a smittened child, the broken bones
and our hands are filled with their rotting tissues
we press our lips
into the remains of each one on end.

it's eternal love, funes.

Funes.
