Event Description

This workshop is dedicated to provide artists with the necessary knowledge and skills to be able to produce good quality photographs of their art for online personal publications. In class we will discuss all the considerations necessary for both paintings and sculptures, or any other physical piece. The course outline will be divided in theory and practice. The theoretical part includes an introduction to the 3 basic variables of photography (aperture, shutter speed, and ISO), optics and the way the lens distorts reality, lighting considerations and the use of the tripod, and the nature of digital images and their proper cropping and resizing according to their use.

For the practical part of the class, students will be asked to bring some of their art and the cameras they will use regularly to photograph them, to do exercises of photographing, resizing and cropping.

Materials needed: cameras, art pieces, and personal computers with editing software (Example: Photoshop, Lightroom, Aperture)
