On May 2, Tomás Rivas's exhibition, Provincia, will open at Open Source Gallery, but before then, the artist needs help with install!
Volunteers will be working closely with the artist to prepare the gallery and install site-specific artwork.
Sign up is required. We are seeking two volunteers for each time slot. If you are volunteering with another person, please sign up separately for the same time slot. Please wear appropriate clothing for painting and cleaning.
This exhibit will open on May 2 with a reception for 7-9pm. An artist talk will take place during installation on April 28 at 6pm.
Provincia refers to a hill in the Andes that is visible from the central valley of Santiago in Chile. In historical terms, the word “provincial” also denotes the conquered territory of the Roman Empire outside of Italy. Provincia aims to draw attention to the relationship between local and global culture. At Open Source, the artist has chosen to focus on decorative details that are considered marginal in the context of monumental structures. Rivas will use a wide range of cultural connotations to produce a new work that will integrate wall drawings, paper drawings and objects for a total transformation of the space. More info
