Collaged works by Katherine Streeter.
Oct 1 - Oct 31
Katherine Streeter's new collection of female figures are based on various states of awareness, subconscious, dreams, and transformation. Each occupies its own space, which feels intimate and inspires curiosity to examine each one as its own representation of a state of mind in the human experience.
These works are made with various materials; wire, paper, fabric and found objects, in three dimensional form, in addition to flat painted portraits layered on paper and wood. The figures convey a sense of history and community, and visually they hold both the crafted imperfection of hand-made folk art and the patterns and shadows of the modern woman. These paper dolls are pensive and dream-like, seeming to quietly hover in their own personal space and self-relection.
