UMWELT is pleased to open Cristiane Bouger’s studio to present The Geopoem Series, a work in progress in which the artist interweaves her biography with the places and geography she experienced. Merging diagrams, visual poetry, sound, geolocation systems and Haiku, the series converges philosophical searching and ludic process. The influence of performance is central in what constitutes the core of the work—the body in action, aware of the space, its topography and surroundings. This is translated into an ongoing documentation, where life and art converges to reveal what forms the background, priorities and patterns of the artist’s life. In The Geopoem Series life is fully taken as part of the oeuvre, inviting viewers to unveil and reflect upon the poetry implicit on their own experiences and personal odysseys.
Opening: Friday, September 28, 2018, 7PM–10PM
