Event Description

During the month of December, ART ON ARMITAGE window gallery presents the tapestry style paintings of New York City artist Jennie Booth. The exhibition includes three vibrant mixed-media paintings on tapestry style canvas, each representing a different translation of the English word Speechless. (San Paroles - French, Nilishangaa - Swahili and Unsãglich - German)

Booth states "In a world of borders, there is one language which easily crosses oceans and translates into legislation and tradition everywhere. That is the language of oppression against women. Made speechless by this overwhelming injustice, the women in my paintings imagine a borderless world where every viewer is invited to become a witness and ally.

The work is available for viewing 24hrs a day.
