Bio:

When Shion Kanzato was sixteen years old, she founds that she had different senses from others and attended a hospital for a while. Then, her doctor encouraged her to take photos. She could sort out, analyze and bring words to her feelings by taking photos, because they mirrored the depths of her heart. When she was eighteen years old, she got inspired from Gregory Colbert's photographic inventory, and started taking photos as art projects.

She has two ways to create works; building images, then finding proper models and places. OR finding models at first, then taking photos in accordance with their images. The images for works are often influenced by other works, such as musics, novels, architecture, arts and so on. She thinks over her feeling toward the works, and manages to reflect them upon her work. She always talks to models when she takes photos in order to let them show their undecorated expressions. She uses photoshop to edit photographs. sometimes she does it in a haphazard way. Her message is that negative feelings are not always a bad thing. We all have negative aspects in our mind by nature, and sometimes they could support our vitalities. The pathetic things we do not want see would be accepted as a common occurance by expressing in photos. She thinks they could be good for us in some way. She hopes she could spread through her works the idea that everything in this world is not just pure, and that there are many "beautiful dirtiness" in our daily lives.
