“Seeing,” beyond the literal, is an exhibition that looks at art with no visual references to our physical world, and yet it evokes human emotions. This show is comprised of three carefully chosen Gowanus Brooklyn based abstract artists: Heidi Yockey, Amy Weil, and Carlos Torres Machado. These artists are dedicated to exploring their own unique expression through true abstract art. Although they work in different mediums, they have used their desired medium as a familiar tool to create their own unique fine works of art. In todays climate of unrest, the curator, Myra Kooy, says an artist plays many roles and one of them, she believes, is to rejuvenate the viewer. This group of artists do just that. Their works of art emanate a calm and harmonious feeling. Kooy feels that each of their works offers the viewer a peaceful place to relax their eyes and uplift their spirits. This is a have-to-see group of Gowanus / Brooklyn based artists embracing all that abstract art has to offer; color, shape, form and much more, all while demonstrating an acute eye for detail.
