ULTRACULTURAL OTHERS is an intentional community and urban mystery skool, directed by Katie Cercone and David Williams—joined here by collaborator Akhet n Baset. Their work, "BLOOD MAGIK/Birth Stories," seeks to re-establish a reverence for women’s ancient wisdom and power. Based loosely on the “Red Tent,” where pre-biblical women spent time in isolation together during their period, ULTRACULTURAL OTHERS will create a women’s moon lodge in a New York City park. The lodge will create a space for healthy socialization and directed ritual between female-bodied persons, cementing intergenerational bonds amidst women and recognizing femaleness as a potent source of nurturance, presence, life-giving, and death-wielding power. A final day of events will include a gender-inclusive sharing of birth stories, intended to counterbalance what the collaborators describe as the “extreme medicalization and corporatization of birth.”

"Reimagining Tradition" is a program developed by Open Source Gallery to highlight intersections between socially engaged art and ritual practice through a series of site-specific projects by New York City-based artists. Pieces in "Reimagining Tradition" defy the constraints of traditional gallery exhibitions and blur modern distinctions between art and the sacred. Artists in the program include: Leigh Davis, Erin Ellen Kelly, James Leonard, Jasmine Murrell, Nia I'man Smith, Ultracultural Others
