Surround yourself with color and become immersed in the world of Alex Masket. Join Guerilla Galleries as they present Poetry of the Unwritten Word: Abstracts in the Raw as part of Newark's Open Doors 2009. The exhibit is centered around an installation which takes you inside the mind of self-taught artist, Alex Masket. It reconstructs what was his living space for the past 22 years, and features a documentary by Dennis Connors. Complementing the installation will be works by Marshall Okin, Stan Sudol, Christine Wagner, and Erik Garcia.

Alex currently has solo shows at Summit Medical Group and Rutgers University Art Library. He will be featured on the cover of the upcoming issue of Esopus magazine, which also includes an extensive portfolio of his work and a foldout poster. He was the subject of an article in the Fall 2009 issue of Rutgers Magazine, and his artwork graces the cover of this year's course catalog for Rutgers University.

There will be an opening reception Friday, October 23 from 6-9pm. Please come and share an evening of great art, great company, refreshments, and hors d'oeuvres.

Guerilla Galleries will also have a small exhibit, The Newark Line, in the entrance to the Barat Foundation located at 765 Broad Street, Newark beginning October 23.
