Event Description

Summer Break Project 2011 is an exploration of art as a form of play. Play is how children and young animals learn about the world around them, their position in society and their relationships with others. Just as Art is how we try to understand and make sense of the world that we live in through testing and experimenting with concepts and materials around us.

Objective of Play is a collection of works from a group of artists that are each exploring a different interest. It is an insight into the variety of ways in which art opens up a dialogue between the artist and the spectator.

As a supporting event to the exhibition we will be hosting a series of Live Confessions, inspired by and based on the Proust Questionnaire, and the current Drawing Room Confessions. At each event an invited artist will participate in a series of conversations with different characters. Through these dialogues, the inspiration, influences and intentions of the artist will be revealed giving an insight into the diversity of our creative minds.

We look forward to your visit and hope to see you and your friends at the OPENing on Tuesday, 26th July at 7.30-11pm at galerie OPEN by Alexandra Rockelmann.

Live Confessions will take place at galerie OPEN by Alexandra Rockelmann on Thursday the 4th, 11th and 18th August at 6pm.
