On Friday, October 16th from 7-11 pm, Lucky Gallery will present "When Clouds Clear" a powerful documentary exposing the threat of mining to a remote people of Ecuador. The gallery is teaming up with The Stumblebum Brass Band and musician Rene Torres for an exciting event at Space 414 in Red Hook, Brooklyn.
"When Clouds Clear" is an award winning feature-length documentary about one remote community's radical resistance to a proposed mining project that would destroy their way of life forever. Set in the isolated cloud forests of the northern Ecuadorian Andes Mountains. Director, Danielle Bernstein will be at the event.
Bernstein founded the New York based production company Clear Films in 2006. Clear Films is dedicated to working with artist and filmmakers whose work focuses on social consciousness and strives to bring local communities together to celebrate the power of change through creativity. It is in that spirit that Clear Films, Lucky Gallery and Space 414 have joined forces for this event.
The event will be opened with music from Rene Torres and closed by The Stumblebum Brass Band. An incendiary force on the New York City music scene, Stumblebum has performed on many stages including the Music Hall of Williamsburg, World Cafe, Highline Ballroom, Mercury Lounge, The Box, Hiro Ballroom, Living Theatre, Shea Stadium, Joe's Pub and the Hammerstein Ballroom. They have supported many artists including he Roots, The Black Lips and Ween.
