April 17: Brooklyn Art Complex Opens 30 Studios to the Public
On Saturday, April 17, the Morgan Fine Arts Building (morganfineartsbldg.com) in Greenpoint, Brooklyn hosts its sixth Studio Open House, for over 30 artist studios.
The Morgan Fine Arts Building is located at 649 Morgan Avenue, between Nassau and Norman Avenues. From 5 to 10 P.M., 30 separate artist studios on five floors of the building will be open to the public. (See attachment)
The five-story Morgan complex houses studios for over 60 independent fine artists. They include several major award winners, as well as artists whose works hang in the MOMA, Guggenheim, Whitney and Philadelphia museums, and are represented in leading collections, including the Saatchi.
“Our resident artists range from the emerging to the established,” said Peter Buchman, director of the complex. “Several are widely exhibited across the country and around the world. This open house provides an opportunity to see the works of 30 serious artists in the studios where they do their work.” Artists with current or recent gallery shows are featured in the Morgan website at morganfineartsbldg.com
This Spring 2010 Open House is the sixth hosted by the Morgan complex. The last, held in September, 2009, drew over 450 guests. The event will include an open bar with complimentary wine, beer and bottled water.
A signed, silk-screened commemorative poster by Kevin Cyr, part of an edition of fifty, will be awarded to every 50th guest, and five posters will be awarded through a raffle at the end of the evening. The balance will be available for sale at $10.00. Mr. Cyr has been awarded the West Prize, and his work is now in the West collection.
