Event Description

RePOP is pleased to present the works of Matthew William Robinson in his first New York solo exhibition Industrial Society and It's Future Failure Friday March 4th from 7:30 to 11:00.

Image one and two: Untitled 48"x 48" mixed media 2010

"I construct paintings of defunct and desultory environments: failed vivariums. These environments evince misconceived progress, the denial of history, and the circular assumptions of human behavior. Collage is an important part of the paintings. I use the language of paint to manipulate representational objects.

The aesthetic of the post industrial along with weathering material are symbolic of our currently failing society and infrastructure. It is de-evolution, in the need to 'move forward' humanity blindly takes shortcuts at the expense of health, environment, well being and happiness."  -MWR
