Solo Exhibition in Rome, October 8-29,2011

We present in Rome, the 8 of October 2011 at 18.30h, at the Arché Gallery by Stefano Minutillo Turtur, on the occasion of Day of Contemporary Art, for the first time in Italy, the Turkish artist: Gulay Alpay, solo exhibition curated by Sveva Manfred Zavaglia, entitled: “I need to find a way to say I love you in multiple languages“. The first exhibition of Gulay Alpay in Rome presents: ten paintings on canvas, ten works on silk with fluorescent color and interactive work “5D dream box”.


A soul all pictorial Fluidity on signs, organic unity in throwing the colors and in drips render the art of Gulay Alpay one pictorial constellation of homage to the life and respect to the nature. In his art, the game is a privileged way of expressing yourself because it is a primary and indispensable origin of education, creativity and, especially, of communication. Game and imagination are transformed on a aesthetic and ethic search through her communication with colors, proposing values of love, union and stimulus of interaction with artwork. Instinctive and singular chromatic sequences are supported by an effective and vehement expressive strength with clef, signs, lines, points, music notes and hearts that are the space of a music al game, where every sign has its own meaning. The art of Gulay Alpay, is an art that smiles at us, full of poetry, vibrant colors and light. It explores various types of materials such as silk or canvas, color, shape and movement, scanning the external and internal worlds. She’s an exotic pop-artist, ironic and sensitive, who has worked for years with innovation and consistency. She began her research through an international language, her “dream box” interactive was born for our senses, to make us travel in space, in time, through her imagination and her soul, beyond the barriers of language and culture, dialogue with the universe and stressing the beauty of nature. Everyone inside the box can participated and interact with her art. The creative act is social, it becomes a place where people come together and form something greater than themselves, as in a spiritual gesture, like a shaman, that involves the advancement of humanity, a simple sign of love. For Gulay Alpay every artistic act is a creative experience and ritual transformation, is real and not real at the same time, standing in the middle of the creative flow. She used art as a tool in assisting someone’s soul for the purposes of transformation. Any gesture that she makes, by applying color to silk, painting on canvans or gives body to the painting, are acts of spiritual rebirth, expressions of love for humanity. Its purpose is to challenge the boundaries of the art world with their imagination by creating a different kind of world, where people interact freely and openly in love. Gulay Alpay works since ’89, where she graduated in “Fine Arts Department-Painting” at the Mimar Sinan University (MSU) in Istanbul, and where she also took the M.A. in ’92. She has exhibited in various galleries and museums in Turkey, Germany, USA, England, Austria.
