Event Description

Art of Ornament: From Weaponry to Wearable Art is a group show that celebrates the beauty of handmade jewelry and sculptural metalwork. e exhibition includes a line of jewelry entitled, “Toolery”, resin castings of gun parts and “Marine Knives”, which challenge our perception of the dangerous and can be seen as creative vehicles of ornament, when functional objects or conventional materials are transformed into purely decorative. Other pieces do the complete opposite–artists take jewelry which has a purpose of being decorative, and through design can function as a weapon. All works utilize ancient jewelry techniques to bring a modern aesthetic to ancient tools and wearable pieces like rings and necklaces.
