Event Description

In conjunction with the 23rd Annual BRIC Contemporary Art Education Exhibition, BRIC presents the 2011 Brooklyn Arts-In-Education Roundtable Series, a series of free roundtable events to bring together stakeholders in New York’s arts-in-education community to exchange ideas, share resources and identify new practices in the field. This year’s series offers events that are arts-based (designed to nurture your creative self) and administration-based (for feeding your inner activist). Each is guaranteed to stimulate the mind, and will without a doubt be an investment in your professional development!

5-7pm
BRIC Contemporary Art Education in collaboration with The Juan Morel Campos School and Artist Teachers Geneve Brossard
& Abbee Bourett, Classroom Teacher Adam Davison and Stephanie Pereira of Eyebeam

In this year-long residency at Juan Morel Campos School in Williamsburg, artist and classroom teachers worked with students to explore how turmoil in nature reflects our inner experience and can be expressed through art installation and poetry. Meet the team behind this project and join in the discussion as they reflect on their collaboration and suggest ways for how to share your arts-in-education process with a wider audience.

Monday, June 13, 2011
6-8pm
The Art and Science of Creating a Third Space that Inspires Life-Long Learning

Join professional Futurist Garry Golden in exploring trends and emerging ideas that might transform how children create, collaborate and design arts experiences. We will discuss shifts in demographics and culture, new approaches to place-making and how digital experiences might evolve in the years ahead.
